Mia Amor Mottley is a Barbadian attorney-at-law and stateswoman who has distinguished herself as one of the most influential global leaders of her generation. In 2018, she made history as Barbados’ first female Prime Minister, leading her party to a decisive general election victory.

As Prime Minister, she has overseen one of the most significant periods of economic and institutional reform in Barbados’ modern history. Her leadership guided the country through a comprehensive economic recovery and debt restructuring programme, restoring fiscal stability, rebuilding international confidence, and protecting social services during a period of global uncertainty. Internationally, Mia Amor Mottley has emerged as a leading voice on climate justice, sustainable development, and global financial reform. She is widely recognised for championing the interests of Small Island Developing States and vulnerable economies, calling for systemic changes to international financial architecture to address climate vulnerability and development financing. Her advocacy has reshaped global conversations on climate finance, debt relief, and equity.

Santia Bradshaw
St Michael South East

The Honourable Santia Bradshaw has built an impressive political career, marked by her unwavering commitment to public service and leadership. Having served in various ministerial roles, she has made significant contributions to the fields of education, transportation, and community development in Barbados.

Appointed to the Barbados Senate on November 9, 2010, Deputy Minister Bradshaw transitioned to the House of Assembly as the elected Member of Parliament for the St. Michael South-East constituency in 2013. She has also served as the Leader of Government Business.

In her first ministerial role as Minister of Education, Technological and Vocational Training, which she assumed in 2018, Santia Bradshaw implemented key policies to enhance the educational system, including curriculum reforms and infrastructure upgrades. As Minister of Transport, Works, and Water Resources, she has spearheaded critical projects such as the Scotland District Road Rehabilitation Project, as well as the IDB and CAF funded road rehabilitation projects across the island. Her previous tenure as Minister of Water Resources saw significant advancements in infrastructure projects to improve water supply across the rural parishes and upgrades to the island’s sewage network.

Kerrie Symmonds

His constituency work has included infrastructure upgrades, utilities expansion, youth programmes, and community development initiatives that have left a lasting impact. At the national level, he has held portfolios including Tourism, Energy, Business, and Foreign Affairs, guiding Barbados through recovery, investment growth, and global engagement.

Dwight Sutherland
St. George South

Dwight Sutherland is an engineer, business leader, and long-serving parliamentarian whose work has combined technical expertise, community development, and national service.

Born in Ellerton, St. George, he was educated at Ellerton Primary School and The Lodge School before earning a BSc in Mechanical Engineering (Upper Second Class Honours) from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus. He later obtained a Master of Business Administration in International Business with Distinction from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.

After leaving UWI in 1992, Dwight briefly taught Mathematics and Science at Harrison College before launching his engineering career at Coles Engineering. He later joined Trinidad Cement Limited, where he was recruited to help reopen the Arawak Cement plant. Over a twenty-year period, he rose through the ranks from Trainee Engineer to Project Engineer, Materials Manager, Maintenance Manager, Production Manager, and ultimately Operations Manager — the company’s highest technical position. During this time, he also lectured in International Business at UWI Cave Hill for two years.

Dwight entered parliamentary life as Opposition Member of Parliament for St. George South from 2013 to 2018, and has served as Government Member of Parliament from 2018 to 2025. During this period, he held several ministerial portfolios, including Minister of Small Business, Commerce and Energy (2018–2020), Minister of Youth, Sport and Community Empowerment (2020–2022), and Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance (2022–2025).

His ministerial record includes pioneering Barbados’ first Vending Policy, digitising the liquor licence registration system, restructuring the Barbados National Standards Institute, and advancing major reforms in the small business sector. These included the establishment of the National Trust Fund Limited in 2019, which distributed $4 million in seed capital benefiting approximately 4,000 small businesses, the formation of cooperatives for contractors and artisans, and the refurbishment and modernisation of community centres across the island. He also expanded community sporting infrastructure through the installation of lights at playing fields and the development of more than 20 road tennis courts.

As Minister of Housing, Dwight played a key role in the construction and repair of over 1,500 houses damaged or destroyed during Hurricane Elsa.

Outside of formal politics, he has been deeply involved in community life. A former cricket captain for The Lodge School, he has remained active in sport through the Malvern Sport and Cultural Club and currently serves as President of the Ellerton Sports and Social Academy. He is also the owner and Managing Director of Blue Grid Solutions Inc., a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering firm operating in Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean.

William Duguid
Christ Church West

William Duguid brings decades of professional and public service experience to national leadership. Trained as a dentist, he studied at Harrison College and the University of Wales College of Medicine and completed postgraduate training through the Royal College of Surgeons. His professional career includes service in the United Kingdom and Barbados and recognition as a Fellow of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons Dublin.

First elected to Parliament in 2003, he has served Barbados in numerous leadership roles, including Chairman of the National Petroleum Corporation, Chairman of Bayview Hospital, General Secretary and Vice President of the Barbados Labour Party, and in multiple Cabinet portfolios including Transport, Works and Maintenance, Housing, Lands and Maintenance, and his current senior ministerial responsibility.

His work reflects a deep understanding of how infrastructure, housing, and planning shape daily life and national development. A Justice of the Peace and recipient of national recognition, William Duguid’s leadership is disciplined, experienced, and focused on building a Barbados that functions better for every citizen.

Wilfred Abrahams
Christ Church East

Wilfred Abrahams is an attorney-at-law with more than 30 years of professional experience and a public servant whose work has been defined by service, reform, and community development. He first entered electoral politics in Christ Church East in 2011 and was successfully elected in 2018.

He has held several senior ministerial portfolios, including Energy and Water Resources, where he resolved longstanding sewage challenges along the South Coast within weeks of assuming office and launched the government’s policy of transitioning to fossil-fuel-free energy by 2030. He currently serves as Minister of Home Affairs and Information.

Wilfred has led major institutional reforms across key state agencies, including Immigration, the Barbados Water Authority, the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation, the Barbados Meteorological Service, and the Barbados Fire Service, helping modernise operations and improve service delivery.

In Christ Church East, his community work includes education initiatives such as the CXC Second Chance Programme, scholarships, youth development, and extensive support for sports clubs and athletes. His tenure has also seen major upgrades to playing fields, parks, and green spaces across the constituency.

Sandra Husbands

Indar A. Weir
St Philip South

Indar Weir serves Barbados as Minister of Agriculture, Food and Nutritional Security and was elected Member of Parliament for St Philip South in 2018 and 2022. His leadership is defined by a clear national mission: strengthening food security, building climate resilience, and ensuring that agriculture remains a viable and modern pillar of the economy.

He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the Cave Hill School of Business, alongside professional certifications in organisational development and training. His professional background includes entrepreneurship and strategic management, including leadership of the Indar Weir Travel Centre. He has also served at the highest levels of regional and international aviation governance, including on the Joint Executive Committee of the International Air Transport Association and as a Regional Director on the Board of the United Federation of Travel Agents’ Associations.

Since his election to Parliament in 2018, Indar Weir has advanced a reform focused agricultural agenda centred on modernisation, import substitution, and climate adaptation. His work includes the promotion of protected agriculture, improved planting material systems, precision and digital agriculture, and stronger institutional support for farmers and agro processors.

Regionally, he has served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Inter American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture and chaired CARICOM COTED meetings on Agriculture, driving collective regional responses to food security challenges. His leadership style is practical, consultative, and firmly people centred, focused on strengthening national resilience and opportunity.

Adrian “Medic” Forde
Christ Church West Central

Adrian “Medic” Forde is a pharmacist and public servant committed to empowerment, fairness, and opportunity. A graduate of the Barbados Community College Pharmaceutical Programme, he also holds a postgraduate certificate in Drug Abuse and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. His professional experience includes training pharmacist interns at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and teaching at St Leonard’s Boys’ School.

Elected Member of Parliament for Christ Church West Central in 2018 and 2022, Adrian Forde is known for accessible, community level leadership. His constituency initiatives include Project HOPE, which supports education, employment, and personal development, the WEE Programme supporting entrepreneurship for women, young people, and persons with disabilities, and the Building Blocks Project, which provides commercial kiosks to support small business development among at risk youth.

As Minister of Environment and National Beautification, Green and Blue Economy, his work has included national clean up programmes, gully rehabilitation, beach access restoration, biodiversity initiatives, tree planting, and green space development. Charles Griffith
St. John

Charles Griffith is a lifelong youth and community development practitioner whose career spans more than 25 years of service to the people of Barbados. His journey from Youth Officer to Member of Parliament reflects a deep commitment to empowerment, mentorship, and community transformation.

He has held numerous leadership roles within St. John, including founding member and former President of the Edge Cliff Community Club, President of the Mount Tabor Primary PTA, President and Head Coach of the St. John Sonics Basketball Club, and Chairman of the St. John Youth Development Council.

As a Youth Officer for two decades, Charles received multiple awards for excellence in youth development. His Project Oasis initiative has provided mentorship and support to at-risk boys, while his work in sports has demonstrated the power of discipline, teamwork, and leadership in shaping lives.

He holds a Diploma in Youth Work, a Diploma in Sports Management, and a BSc in Sociology with Social Work. His holistic approach extends beyond youth, encompassing families and senior citizens, ensuring inclusive community progress.

Charles is the proud father of three children and serves St. John with passion, integrity, and a clear vision for generational upliftment.

Kirk Humphrey
St. Michael South

Kirk D. M. Humphrey is a Barbadian public servant and community advocate whose work has been grounded in strengthening families, building safer communities, and expanding opportunity for everyday people.

Raised in The Pine and shaped by community life in St. Michael South, he is driven by the belief that policy must meet people where they are, and that dignity, opportunity, and care are not privileges, but rights.

He holds a BSc in Management, an MSc in Social Policy and Planning for Developing Countries, and a Master’s in Public Administration from Harvard University, where he focused on public leadership, economics, and development policy.

Before entering elected office, Kirk served in several senior roles across Barbados and the region, including Manager of the Child Care Board, Director of Social Policy Research and Planning, Director of Constituency Empowerment, and Senior Development Officer with Global Affairs Canada, with responsibility for Barbados and the OECS.

He first became the Member of Parliament for St. Michael South in 2018, and he has remained deeply committed to the constituency.

At the heart of his service is a simple principle: People Over Politics. This is reflected in how he listens, how he shows up, and how he delivers.

A major focus of his constituency work has been youth empowerment, sport, and healthy community life. Ryan Straughn
Christ Church East Central

Ryan Straughn is a Barbadian economist who has played a central role in national economic leadership as Minister in the Ministry of Finance. He is recognised for his contribution to the Barbados Economic Recovery and Transformation Programme, focusing on restoring stability and rebuilding confidence in the economy.

His work has included involvement in domestic and external debt restructuring, creating fiscal space to strengthen public services and social support. Alongside fiscal reform, he has prioritised social inclusion, including support for persons with special needs through increased resourcing and the introduction of a special needs grant.

Beyond government, he has supported youth and culture through service as a director of the Waterford Music and Cultural Society. Elected as MP for Christ Church East Central in 2018 and 2022, his leadership is calm, technically grounded, and focused on ensuring that economic recovery translates into real improvements in people’s lives.

Marsha Caddle
St Michael South Central

Marsha Caddle is a social development professional and parliamentarian whose work is rooted in inclusion, equity, and opportunity for vulnerable and marginalised communities.

She holds academic qualifications in development and social policy and has spent much of her professional life working in social development, research, and advocacy, with a particular focus on poverty reduction, gender equity, and community empowerment.

Since entering Parliament, she has been a consistent voice on social protection, disability inclusion, education access, and human-centred policy. Her work reflects a belief that development must be measured not only by economic growth, but by how effectively it improves everyday life for those most in need.

In St. Michael South Central, Marsha is known for her steady presence and community-focused approach, engaging residents on issues affecting families, seniors, and young people. Her leadership style is thoughtful, evidence-based, and grounded in service.

Davidson Ian Ishmael
St Michael North

Davidson Ishmael leads with a clear belief that leadership is service, measured not by titles but by action, presence, and results. Raised in Eden Lodge, St Michael North, he was shaped by a community that taught him responsibility, compassion, and the importance of giving back. Those values were strengthened through humanitarian missions to Malawi, deepening his commitment to practical, people centred development.

On returning home, Davidson turned purpose into action. He used personal resources to assist vulnerable households and co founded the Interact to Impact Social Movement, which for over fifteen years has supported hundreds of Barbadians. He joined the Barbados Labour Party in 2012 and built a strong organisational record, serving eight years as President of the St Michael North Branch, eight years on the National Executive Council, and seven years as Party Treasurer.

Professionally, he brings more than seventeen years of management experience in retail and financial services, including as Operations Manager at one of Barbados’ largest credit unions. Elected Member of Parliament for St Michael North in January 2022, he has delivered community focused initiatives including support for sports clubs, improved lighting, park restoration, road works advocacy, and an education programme providing over 250 scholarships. He served as Minister responsible for Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology from 2022 to 2024 and currently serves as Minister of State in the Ministry of Health and Wellness, advancing digital transformation and mental health and wellness initiatives.

Kay McConney
St Philip West

Kay McConney’s leadership journey is grounded in discipline, service, and global experience, shaped by strong community roots in St Philip. From an early age, she represented Barbados internationally as a cultural ambassador in the performing arts, developing a lifelong commitment to national representation.

A national gold and silver medal winning hurdler, she later served Barbados on the international stage as a diplomat and negotiator at the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation. Her parliamentary service began in the Upper House, where she served as a Senator for three and a half years, before being elected Member of Parliament for St Philip West in January 2022.

In Cabinet, Kay McConney has led three ministries. As Minister of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology, she introduced Barbados’ first Data Protection Act, established the national Digitization Centre, advanced the digital ID framework, and improved public services such as the Police Certificate of Character. As Minister of Education, she led the full return to face to face learning, introduced the Construction Gateway Training Programme, established the School Assistants initiative, launched the Summer Nutrition Programme, and led national consultations that informed the Education Transformation blueprint. She has also served as Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment.

As MP, her constituency work focuses on home ownership support, disaster recovery assistance, literacy programmes for children ages five to eleven, adult scholarships, job readiness and placement, water advocacy, and improvements to roads, lighting, drainage, and community spaces. Her leadership is steady, inclusive, and rooted in opportunity for all.

Chad Blackman
St. James North

Chad Blackman is an attorney-at-law, international development professional, and public servant with over two decades of experience working at the highest levels of global governance and policy formulation. He currently serves as Minister of Educational Transformation, having previously held responsibility in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment.

His career spans international diplomacy, labour governance, and youth development. Chad has served as Barbados’ Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Vienna, and Rome, as well as Ambassador to Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, and Serbia. During his diplomatic tenure, he played key leadership roles across the WTO and UNCTAD, including Chair of the Trade and Environment Committee, Chair of the Trade and Development Committee of the WTO, President of the G77 and China in Geneva, and Coordinator of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Group.

He later joined the International Labour Organization as Senior Advisor to the Director-General. While based in Geneva, he also lectured at the Master’s level at the Geneva School of Diplomacy.

Chad holds both an LLB in Law and an LLM in International Trade Law from the University of Essex and is fluent in French. His career reflects a deep commitment to development, education, and global equity.

Colin Jordan
St. Peter

Colin Jordan is a respected parliamentarian and advocate for workers, families, and community wellbeing in the constituency of St. Peter. First elected in 2018, he has served as Minister with responsibility for Labour, Social Security, Social Partnership, Religious Affairs, and the Third Sector, bringing a people-centered approach to national social and economic policy.

Dr Romel Springer
St. Andrew

Dr Romel Springer is an academic, legislator, and community advocate with a distinguished record in education, heritage, and public service. He holds a PhD in Linguistics and has made significant contributions to national curriculum development and identity-based education.

He currently serves as Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Works, focusing on resilient infrastructure and public transportation. He previously served as a Government Senator and Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, where he played a leading role in revising the national history syllabus.

Dr Springer is an active participant in parliamentary oversight and international legislative dialogue, and a committed member of the Barbados Labour Party, having held several senior party leadership roles.

Ryan Brathwaite
St. Joseph

Ryan Brathwaite is a business executive, entrepreneur, and community leader whose work is rooted in institution-building, economic inclusion, and practical delivery. His career spans construction, digital enterprise, culture, and public administration.

He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Ticketlinkz Inc. And Hackleton Construction Inc., delivering major projects while prioritising local skills, community employment, and grassroots development. He is also the Founder and CEO of Barbados Reggae Weekend, using culture as a tool for social cohesion and economic activity.

Ryan is the youngest-ever Chairman of the Barbados National Standards Institution, where he led significant reforms in governance, accountability, and national standards. He has also held leadership roles within youth and sports development organisations.

A long-standing member of the Barbados Labour Party’s St. Joseph Branch, he has served for 15 consecutive years and was unanimously nominated to represent the constituency. His work reflects a new generation of leadership focused on results, opportunity, and national development.

Toni Moore
St. George North

Toni Moore is a labour leader, educator, and parliamentarian whose career has been defined by advocacy, integrity, and a deep commitment to workers’ rights and social justice. She is the first woman to serve as General Secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union in its near 85-year history.

Her professional journey began in education before transitioning into trade unionism, where she has played a leading role in research, negotiation, policy advocacy, and worker education. Her influence extends globally through senior roles within the International Labour Organization, the International Trade Union Confederation, and the Commonwealth Trade Union Group.

Elected to represent St. George North in 2020 and 2022, Toni has distinguished herself as a calm, disciplined, and principled voice in Parliament, championing worker protection, productivity, education, and community empowerment.

Gregory Nicholls
St. Thomas

Gregory Nicholls is an attorney-at-law, chartered arbitrator, and adjunct university lecturer with extensive experience in constitutional and public law. He served as a Government Senator from 2003 to 2008 and then again 2022.

He is a leading expert in constitutional law and recently served as Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Reform Commission. His professional work focuses on civil litigation, with particular expertise in constitutional law, administrative law, labour and employment law, and personal injury litigation.

Beyond the legal profession, Gregory has held senior leadership roles in sport and civic life. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Caves of Barbados Ltd., Vice President of the Barbados Cricket Association, and Chairman of the Arbitration Commission of the Barbados Olympic Association.

From 2003 to 2007, Ian served as a member of the Barbados Senate. His engagement in national institutions extended further through his leadership within the Barbados Employers’ Confederation, where he served as First Vice President from 2001 to 2008 and President from 2008 to 2016. He also held key board and governance roles, including Deputy Chairman and later Chairman of the Transport Board, Deputy Chairman of the Barbados Accreditation Council, and Director and later Chairman of the National Insurance Board from 2013 to 2020.

In the private sector, he played a central role in major tourism and hospitality developments. In May 2015, he was among the business executives responsible for the listing of Elegant Hotels Group Plc on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange, with a market capitalisation of £88.8 million. He also served on the boards of related Elegant Hotels Group companies and was part of the executive team that negotiated and concluded the sale of the Elegant Hotels Group to Marriott International in 2019, completing his contractual obligations in July 2020.

Chris began his professional career in the wireless industry in the United States, working for four years as a Wireless RF Engineer. He is also recognised as one of the first engineers to test 3G wireless networks in the U.S.

He served as Chairman of Barbados Tourism Investment Inc. for seven years, leading the organisation through a period that delivered major tourism development and infrastructure projects, and national initiatives such as the National Performing Arts Centre and Carifesta Village. Tourism development projects included the Wyndham Sam Lords Castle Hotel.

Before his elevation to ministerial office, Christopher also led family businesses as Managing Director of Pelican Produce and Scottys Fresh Market for seven years — businesses described as the largest distributors of fresh produce in Barbados.

His vision for housing in Barbados centres on delivering affordable, climate-resilient, dignified living solutions through an industrial approach to building, reducing urban sprawl by reallocating families into more sustainable housing options, applying innovative building techniques that emphasise resilience and sustainability, and implementing maintenance strategies to renovate existing housing stock with a focus on climate resilience, beautification, and energy independence.

After leaving UWI in 1992, Dwight briefly taught Mathematics and Science at Harrison College before launching his engineering career at Coles Engineering. He later joined Trinidad Cement Limited, where he was recruited to help reopen the Arawak Cement plant. Over a twenty-year period, he rose through the ranks from Trainee Engineer to Project Engineer, Materials Manager, Maintenance Manager, Production Manager, and ultimately Operations Manager — the company’s highest technical position. During this time, he also lectured in International Business at UWI Cave Hill for two years.

Dwight entered parliamentary life as Opposition Member of Parliament for St. George South from 2013 to 2018, and has served as Government Member of Parliament from 2018 to 2025. During this period, he held several ministerial portfolios, including Minister of Small Business, Commerce and Energy (2018–2020), Minister of Youth, Sport and Community Empowerment (2020–2022), and Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance (2022–2025).

His ministerial record includes pioneering Barbados’ first Vending Policy, digitising the liquor licence registration system, restructuring the Barbados National Standards Institute, and advancing major reforms in the small business sector. These included the establishment of the National Trust Fund Limited in 2019, which distributed $4 million in seed capital benefiting approximately 4,000 small businesses, the formation of cooperatives for contractors and artisans, and the refurbishment and modernisation of community centres across the island. Kay McConney
St Philip West

Kay McConney’s leadership journey is grounded in discipline, service, and global experience, shaped by strong community roots in St Philip. From an early age, she represented Barbados internationally as a cultural ambassador in the performing arts, developing a lifelong commitment to national representation.

A national gold and silver medal winning hurdler, she later served Barbados on the international stage as a diplomat and negotiator at the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation. Her parliamentary service began in the Upper House, where she served as a Senator for three and a half years, before being elected Member of Parliament for St Philip West in January 2022.

In Cabinet, Kay McConney has led three ministries. As Minister of Innovation, Science and Smart Technology, she introduced Barbados’ first Data Protection Act, established the national Digitization Centre, advanced the digital ID framework, and improved public services such as the Police Certificate of Character. As Minister of Education, she led the full return to face to face learning, introduced the Construction Gateway Training Programme, established the School Assistants initiative, launched the Summer Nutrition Programme, and led national consultations that informed the Education Transformation blueprint. She has also served as Minister of Economic Affairs and Investment.

As MP, her constituency work focuses on home ownership support, disaster recovery assistance, literacy programmes for children ages five to eleven, adult scholarships, job readiness and placement, water advocacy, and improvements to roads, lighting, drainage, and community spaces. Chad Blackman

Chad Blackman is an attorney-at-law, international development professional, and public servant with over two decades of experience working at the highest levels of global governance and policy formulation. He currently serves as Minister of Educational Transformation, having previously held responsibility in the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Investment.

His career spans international diplomacy, labour governance, and youth development. Chad has served as Barbados’ Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Vienna, and Rome, as well as Ambassador to Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, and Serbia. During his diplomatic tenure, he played key leadership roles across the WTO and UNCTAD, including Chair of the Trade and Environment Committee, Chair of the Trade and Development Committee of the WTO, President of the G77 and China in Geneva, and Coordinator of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Group.

He later joined the International Labour Organization as Senior Advisor to the Director-General. While based in Geneva, he also lectured at the Master’s level at the Geneva School of Diplomacy.

Chad holds both an LLB in Law and an LLM in International Trade Law from the University of Essex and is fluent in French. His career reflects a deep commitment to development, education, and global equity.

Colin Jordan
St. Peter

He is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Ticketlinkz Inc. Toni Moore

Gregory Nicholls

Gregory Nicholls is an attorney-at-law, chartered arbitrator, and adjunct university lecturer with extensive experience in constitutional and public law. He served as a Government Senator from 2003 to 2008 and then again 2022.

He is a leading expert in constitutional law and recently served as Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Reform Commission. His professional work focuses on civil litigation, with particular expertise in constitutional law, administrative law, labour and employment law, and personal injury litigation.

Beyond the legal profession, Gregory has held senior leadership roles in sport and civic life. He is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Caves of Barbados Ltd., Vice President of the Barbados Cricket Association, and Chairman of the Arbitration Commission of the Barbados Olympic Association.

Trevor Prescod
St. Michael East

Trevor Prescod is a long-serving Barbadian legislator who has represented the people of St. Michael East in the House of Assembly. Ian Gooding-Edghill is a seasoned executive, labour relations professional, and public servant whose career spans human resource management, corporate leadership, and national governance.

He began his executive career in human resource management with Marriott Hotels and Resorts and, in 1994, was recruited into St. James Beach Hotels Plc, the first Barbadian company floated on the London Stock Exchange. There, he served as Group Trainer, Group Human Resources Manager, and later Human Resources Director, building a strong reputation in organisational development and people management.

From 2003 to 2007, Ian served as a member of the Barbados Senate. His engagement in national institutions extended further through his leadership within the Barbados Employers’ Confederation, where he served as First Vice President from 2001 to 2008 and President from 2008 to 2016. He also held key board and governance roles, including Deputy Chairman and later Chairman of the Transport Board, Deputy Chairman of the Barbados Accreditation Council, and Director and later Chairman of the National Insurance Board from 2013 to 2020.

In the private sector, he played a central role in major tourism and hospitality developments. In May 2015, he was among the business executives responsible for the listing of Elegant Hotels Group Plc on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange, with a market capitalisation of £88.8 million. He also served on the boards of related Elegant Hotels Group companies and was part of the executive team that negotiated and concluded the sale of the Elegant Hotels Group to Marriott International in 2019, completing his contractual obligations in July 2020.

In July 2020, Ian was appointed to Cabinet, serving first as Minister of Transport, Works and Water Resources. Following the 2022 General Election, he was assigned as Minister of Health and Wellness from January to October 2022, and subsequently as Minister of Tourism and International Transport from October 26, 2022, to the present.

He was educated at St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School, AHMA, and the Cornell University School of Hotel Management. His career reflects a consistent focus on leadership, institutional strength, and national development through both public and private service.

He holds a Bachelor’s (Hons) and a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology (Florida Tech), specialising in fibre optic sensor systems and wireless communication networks.

Chris began his professional career in the wireless industry in the United States, working for four years as a Wireless RF Engineer. He is also recognised as one of the first engineers to test 3G wireless networks in the U.S.

He served as Chairman of Barbados Tourism Investment Inc. for seven years, leading the organisation through a period that delivered major tourism development and infrastructure projects, and national initiatives such as the National Performing Arts Centre and Carifesta Village. Tourism development projects included the Wyndham Sam Lords Castle Hotel.

Before his elevation to ministerial office, Christopher also led family businesses as Managing Director of Pelican Produce and Scottys Fresh Market for seven years — businesses described as the largest distributors of fresh produce in Barbados.

His vision for housing in Barbados centres on delivering affordable, climate-resilient, dignified living solutions through an industrial approach to building, reducing urban sprawl by reallocating families into more sustainable housing options, applying innovative building techniques that emphasise resilience and sustainability, and implementing maintenance strategies to renovate existing housing stock with a focus on climate resilience, beautification, and energy independence.

In public life, Christopher’s blend of technical training, management experience, and project delivery reflects a commitment to practical solutions, with an emphasis on building stronger communities and improving quality of life for the people of St. Michael West and Barbados.

Shantal Munro Knight, PhD

Dr Shantal Munro Knight serves as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office with responsibility for culture, sustainable development, climate resilience including water resources, public sector performance management under Commitment for Results, and public service affairs. She previously served as Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Medicinal Cannabis Licensing Authority and leads SMK Associates, a consultancy focused on policy development, training, gender analysis, and evaluation. She spent seventeen years in the non profit social development sector as head of the Caribbean Development Centre, working across the region with governments and international partners.

Dr Munro Knight holds an MSc in International Trade Policy from UWI Cave Hill and a PhD in Public Sector Leadership from Walden University. She has also lectured part time at UWI in political science and is a respected social and political commentator.

Dr Sonia E. Browne
St Philip North
